Fundación Telefónica manages Grupo Telefónica’s multicultural corporate volunteering network, whose goal is to promote social action and collaboration among Telefónica employees, developing solidarity actions both within the context of Fundación Telefónica programs and in collaboration with other Foundations.

Telefónica’s Volunteer Program channels the solidarity spirit of its employees by offering them opportunities to personally contribute with their time, knowledge, and/or money to help out those in need. Through this project, Fundación Telefónica contributes to make better citizens in the societies in which it is present.

The initiative takes place in 34 countries and in 2013 26,614 volunteers took part in at least one of the 1,498 activities which were carried out throughout the year. We are inviting you to participate in the 11th International Solidarity Holidays, an initiative which allows Group employees, early retirees and retirees to share an unforgettable summer in South America with those most at need.

More than 800 colleagues have already taken part in International Solidarity Holidays since 2005 and every one of them has lived a life-changing experience. In 2015 we are proposing new destinations where you will see first-hand the situation of some of the most disadvantaged groups in the countries where Telefónica Group is present, as well as contributing to improving their conditions. As volunteer Marivi Briz said, «there are no words to describe the experience». This is how our volunteer reporter Jordi Eslava summed up his holidays in Pujilí (Ecuador) in 2014: “Seeing the happiness on the faces of the children when we arrived filled us with the energy to give it our all”.

It’s a unique opportunity to live an extraordinary experience: we have 100 places available on the International Solidarity Holidays programme. If you’re selected, you’ll spend two weeks of your holidays between July and September together with people who need your experience and knowledge. You’ll also be supported by the NGOs which Fundación Telefónica works with in South America. You’ll even get involved in planning the project!

What’s more, after the success of last year’s programme, we have reserved 8 places for Telefónica colleagues signed up to the Volunteers programme who have a background in journalism or some kind of experience in communication and social networks to be our volunteer reporters. One of the main innovations of this edition is that together with those chosen, a group of people with Multiple Sclerosis will travel from Spain as volunteers with the Temyque Association and will take part in a specially designed project in Chile.
