Historic La Posta de Mesilla Launches Tequila Database for National Tequila Day.
La Posta de Mesilla Restaurant and Cantina, aNew Mexicolandmark since 1939, has launched an online database to catalog its over 150 tequilas. Each entry includes a rating for the tequila, its origin, production details, notes and tasting information.
«Contrary to what some might think,» says owner and tequila connoisseurJerean Hutchinson, «tequila has evolved over the years as a sophisticated spirit, with many ‘Añejo’ tequilas rivaling fine cognacs. Our database educates customers about the subtle difference of each tequila. We enjoy bringing the ‘art’ of tequila from its traditional production methods to the beautiful handcrafted artistry of many tequila bottles.»
Located on the plaza in the historicTown of Mesillajust 45 miles from the Mexican-American border, La Posta has been collecting premium tequilas for over 20 years.«We have some ofMexico’srarest tequilas,» added co-ownerTom Hutchinson. «Some have taken years to acquire, like the rare Clase Azul Ultra-Premium Anejo Tequila, which aged for 5 years, and is bottled in a stunning hand-crafted black ceramic decanter.»
Included in La Posta’s collection of over 150 different tequilas, are their own «signature» barrels of tequila – crafted exclusively for La Posta customers by both Herradura and Patron Master Distillers.
«Our Adobe Cantina y Tequileria was designed for tequila lovers like us,« states Jerean. «The beautiful hand-carved bar depicts agave farmers and trained Tequila Ambassadors greet customers with zeal for everything tequila. It is the perfect spot to savor a three-year old Anejo.»
