Closca launches Closca Kids, the first product of this new line, a bicycle helmet designed for urban families.

I met Carlos Ferrado Founder & Enhancer of Closca in NY, just an hour before to give a speech to explain all his ideas about design your attitudes in front of a prestige audience!! This innovator from Valencia is one of a kind, smart, charming and super self confident but what I like the most is that he is down to earth dreamer with a purpose in life and very family oriented. He is part of this new global economy of entrepreneurs with a heart and that conquered me!

Carlos is a laboratory of ideas and he came up with Closca Kids Helmet, is the first product of this new line, a bicycle helmet designed for urban families. It’s totally safe and collapsible and reduces its size by 50% when not in use, making it comfortable to carry and store.

Closca, a brand which is committed to creating objects that inspire more friendly cities, launches its line for little ones, Closca Kids. With this new line, its creators aim to convey more conscious and sophisticated attitudes to society. Closca inspires children and adults to use bicycles safely and to contribute to more sustainable and connected cities through alternative transportation.

Closca Kids Helmet is the first product of the new kids’ line, which has been designed under the motto «Design your Imaginary City». It’s a secure helmet that follows design and fashion patterns, with a solid folding system that reduces its volume by 50%. The helmet has an integrated NFC chip, using Smart Cities technology to open multiple possibilities for digital interaction with our cities. This includes connection to different apps, public bicycle stations and certain emergency numbers.

But Closca Kids is not only a helmet, it’s also a canvas on which kids can project their creative visions of the city. With this in mind, Closca invited a group of children to imagine the cities in which they would like to live. They got them to put their ideas on paper, with an enriching result: houses full of windows, animals of all kinds, numerous fountains and hundreds of Flowers… more creative, respectful and positive cities.

These drawings inspired Valencia illustrator Cecilia Plaza to create a set of stickers to accompany the helmet, which children can arrange to their liking and tell their story. The stickers are reusable and can be stored in the helmet’s minimalist packaging, allowing little ones to decide how many stories they want to tell and how.

In this way, Closca Kids Helmet goes beyond its practical use: it transmits values that will grow with the small ones. It promotes the use of the bicycle as a means of transport that is respectful to the environment, at the same time contributing to a change of attitude In urban life.

The Closca brand has achieved several international awards for its design and values: the RedDot 2015 Design Award, the Eurobike 2016 Award and the Eco Value Award, which encourages the reduction of CO2 emissions and a model of smart cities. In addition, for the first time, a Spanish product, Closca Helmet, has been selected by TED as one of the most inspiring products of 2017.

The Closca Kids Helmet, in partnership with the creative studio CuldeSac, is available for sale here. It comes in white and the accompanying visor comes in leaf or carrot tones.
