Going on vacation?
Two brands with a spirit of craftsmanship and luxury.
Comfortable, spacious, made with good material, and easy to clean are some of the characteristics which you should focus on when choosing the perfect model.
LONGCHAMP
Founded in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain and initially launched as a luxury pipe business, today the company remains in the same family and has been passed down from generation to generation. Each bag is made by hand in one of the eight workshops. The craftsmen need to have a certain level of experience since any one model, such as Le Pliage, might need up to 250 different operations.
Le Pliage Cuir.In 1993, they surprised their audience with the iconic bag, the Pliage. Thousands of fashion stars have directly collaborated with the company, an example of which is their latest work with Kate Moss. They have a fixed idea of their target market: they want a happy, positive, creative, and self-confident woman.
LIPAULT
Founded by François, the brand was launched in 2005, six years after an airline company invested in their designs to create a luggage line. It was such a success that they acquired and began to focus primarily on their travel line which in April 2014 was bought by the Samsonite Group.
Which to choose?
If you travel a moderate amount and you like having a differentiating factor, I’d opt for LONGCHAMP. On the other hand, if you travel a lot and you prefer more basic designs, Lipault is the right choice.
What material?
Think of the climate in your destination city; this might change from one day to the other. The material that I advise you to choose for traveling is nylon. It’s very light, easy to clean, and is water-repellent.
