This is the 8th time the model appears in the designer’s campaign, and the 2nd time shot by photographer Weir, the last collaboration was last season for the Summer 2015 ad campaign. Stella McCartney comments: “This is not the first time I have been drawn to Scotland. It is a place that I feel really close to. I was brought up there as a child and spent so much of my life there, then I got married there too. It is one of the most magical inspiring places on the planet and I just feel completely at home and at one with nature there.»
«The Scottish landscape is truly spectacular; it has a sense of history, heritage and a defining British strength but at the same time a sense of fragility. The nature is raw and real; setting Natalia within that created a fragile, gentle sensibility amidst the overpowering and impressive land. There is a masculinity to Scotland that complimented the femininity of the images we created. It is a very honest place and to be outside within all of that nature brought a beautiful gentle side to the photographs. The collection, Natalia, the place, the mood, the team – it all felt very natural working there together, we had a lot of fun in Scotland,” McCartney said.
The new campaign is inspired by the natural beauty of Scotland’s landscape, a place of personal importance to the designer having partially grown up in the countryside. Styled by Stella herself, the effortless and fresh imagery portrays Natalia in this season’s looks that celebrate freedom, explore classics and tease sensuality set against the land’s rich and rugged scenery.
The new campaign highlights the new Noma bag, a soft rouched eco alter nappa sack cinched close with a tightly knitted rounded gold double link chain. The campaign will run five images in single page and double page spreads. The campaign will break in the September issues of titles including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Elle, V and Interview as well as other international titles in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Japan, China and Middle East.
