Macro Cardona is about to leave its chic footprint on the global market. Created in 2013 by Irene Magro and Ana Cardona, the brand’s ongoing vocation has been to bring back the very best in Spanish craftsmanship and footwear tradition, approached from a cutting-edge perspective with a rebellious element.

With their subtle beauty, Magro Cardona’s minimalist designs update footwear classics for city women who like to keep up with the trends and combine them with quality, comfort and sophistication. “Tradition on the cutting edge or the future of the classic” is how the brand defines its Spring-Summer collection, manufactured in Spanish footwear-industry hubs, like Toledo and Alicante, in the central and eastern part of the country. The collection includes timeless designs like cowboy sandals, new-age ballet flats, versatile babouches, salon and Oxford shoes in surprising colour and fabric mixes.

This unusual look is guaranteed to prompt more than the odd oh là là at Paris exhibition Première Classe Tuileries in March, which the brand hopes will be a springboard into new markets in Europe, Asia and the USA. The February launch of its online shop with worldwide delivery will be another decisive step in its global expansion. Irene and Ana are set for what they call “a long-distance race”, in which they don’t rule out “creating other accessories in the future”.
