Malibu Wing House, California: A truly unique property, the Malibu Wing House lets guests stay under the wings of a Boeing 747. Designed by US architect David Randall Hertz, the property has been widely acclaimed due to its sustainable use of recycled materials as dozens of redundant planes sit in the deserts of California.

Nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains with panoramic views, the house features an art studio using the upper fuselage as a roof, a guest house which incorporates the first class cabin deck and a meditation pavilion which is made from the entire front of the plane, plus the cockpit windows form a skylight.

King Edward VIII Estate, Bahamas. Click for more information

King Edward VIII Estate, Bahamas: After he abdicated from the throne to marry American Socialite Wallis Simpson, the King and his wife lived here during his first year as the governor of the Bahamas. Also made famous in the 1965 James Bond classic Thunderball, the daughter of the architect who lived at the estate was in a relationship with the Bond films’ producer Albert Broccoli, which is how it came to be featured in the film. The 12 bedroom, 10 bathroom property features an opulent main house plus two guest houses and four acres of tropical gardens with two gardeners included.

Leobo Private Reserve, South Africa: A completely exclusive 20,000 acre private reserve in the Waterberg Mountains owned by a British entrepreneur, guests stay in the remarkable glass Observatory, perfect for stargazing. Guests can use all of the home’s toys including thermal imaging for night-time game viewing, quad bikes and game drive vehicles to spot giraffe, zebra and buffalo. Also included is use of the reserve’s own helicopter which can pick you up from the airport and take you on an aerial safari.
