The past January 14 on the occasion of Pitti Uomo we had the great pleasure of attending one of the year’s events: BeShoes. A event organized by Bespoke magazine and sponsored by Stefano Bemer and Simon Crompton were came together the best Bespoke shoemakers of the world with the exception of John Lobb. Among those great craftsmen were found: Norman Vilalta (Norman Vilalta), Stefano Bemer (Tommaso Melani), Corthay (Pierre Corthay), Gaziano & Girling (Tony Gaziano & Dean Girling), JG Cleverley (John Carnera), Saint Crispin’s (Phillip Car), Bestetti and Foster&Sons (Andrew Murphy).

The event is organized in two different scenarios and began in the workshop of Stefano Bemer in Via San Nicolo. Tommaso Melani CEO of the brand was the ambassador of a conference where spoken about important issues on footwear and the philosophy of each brand or craftsman while were tasted a excellent Tuscany wine.

In a relaxed atmosphere the guests enjoyed a selection of different models of the famous Bespoke shoemakers, while visiting the three floors of the gorgeous workshop of Stefano Bemer. The Stefano spirit permeated every moment, which was reminded repeatedly throughout the event. It was for us a great satisfaction to note the large existing understanding between the various «masters» and their partnership to achieve positioning the culture footwear of the highest quality in the world.

It was very funny moments caused by the microphone and his antipathy to our esteemed Pierre Corthay. Also we heard which are the favorite shoes of each artisan well as several confessions about his inspirations. We moved to the magical Villa Cora hotel where we could enjoy a fantastic cocktail while we conversed with Pierre Corthay, Andy Murphy, Tony Gaziano, Phillip Car or Norman Vilalta.

I can´t have to mention the presence of big media, bloggers and specialty shops which gathered at the event (Sarah and Wei of The Rake, Justin of The Shoe Snob, the people of Double Monk, IsetanCarmina and more).

For us it was an absolute success this event and hope it is the first of many. It is exciting to see how the whole industry joins and supports initiatives like this. My most heartfelt congratulations and I’m waiting for the summer event.
