Make a Splash With Lebron and Kobe

Summer is a magical time when you’re a kid. Swimming, biking, squirt guns, and basketball games from sunup to sundown. A new four-shoe Summer Time Pack from Nike, and exclusively for kids, celebrates the favorite pastimes of some of basketball’s best, beginning with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. The first two styles, the Kobe X High Dives and the LeBron 12 Buckets, will be joined later this summer by unique colorways of the KD7 and the KYRIE 1.

LeBron James hasn’t lost his youthful enthusiasm and he’s been known to initiate some epic locker room water fights with teammates. That scene will play out again and again this summer in backyards everywhere with hoses and squirt guns, and is the inspiration for the LeBron 12 Buckets.

The LeBron 12 was designed for the young basketball player who demands the best performance footwear. Born out of dedicated research, data capture and wear-testing the LeBron 12 is everything the young athlete needs and nothing more.

Borrowing visual elements from the adult version there are five visible, hexagonally-shaped EVA foam cushioning units in the forefoot of the outsole to provide lightweight responsiveness where it’s needed most. For the young athlete, Nike designers replaced the Nike Zoom Air bags with EVA foam to provide responsive cushioning that holds up to the rigors of daily use. A Nike Zoom Air bag in the heel of the grade school version delivers the great cushioning it is known for since first introduced to basketball footwear in 1995.

As Kobe Bryant began his journey back from injury this past year, he took to a 50-foot high dive board one early morning in an effort to remind himself to never let fear get in the way. He made the 50-foot leap like a kid taking off from a diving board for the first time. Bryant’s reminder to every young athlete with the Kobe X High Dives is to always stay brave, no matter the obstacles in front or below you.
