“Tasaki por Reliquiae is the fruit of a perfect fusion of contemporary design and excellence that’s been handed down from generation to generation.” That’s how the high-end Japanese brand describes its collaboration with Reliquiae Spain. “Both brands act on a very similar vision of values: respect for tradition and commitment to design,” officials at Reliquiae added.
Already available at their Ginza and Midtown stores in Tokyo, as well as Tasaki’s e-shop, this first collection is made up of 12 bags and 6 small leather-goods items that implements a color scheme comprised of 16 different shades. Inspiration for the collection was drawn from Spanish architecture and urban landscapes, in addition to the iconic curved line of pearls for which Tasaki is best known.
The Japanese brand boasts quality craftsmanship behind the selection, cut and assembly of Spanish leather, which is internationally recognized for its full grain and smooth texture, not to mention the exquisite work that lies behind their metallic appliques.
Reliquiae was established in 1957 when Juan Jareño set up a small upholstery studio specializing in leather. In 2012 his son, Hector Jareño, and Adrián Díaz, launched the company, which combines cutting edge design and artisanal trade to create bags “that are unique, eternal and brimming with value.”
“Asia is our main market currently. This year we hope to break into the Middle East and the Americas, beginning with Mexico”, Hector explained. With a presence in 22 countries, the company, which regularly exhibits at Première Classe and MIPEL, has its own online store that sells throughout all of Europe, where the ‘Archy’ bag has become its top-selling model.
