One million flowers at Christian Dior Couture
I have just seen the brilliant feature documentary Dior and I by Frédéric Tcheng
Dior and I brings the viewer inside the storied world of the Christian Dior fashion house with a privileged, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Raf Simons’ first haute couture collection as its new artistic director—a true labor of love created by a dedicated group of collaborators. Melding the everyday, pressure- filled components of fashion with mysterious echoes from the iconic brand’s past, the film is also a colorful homage to the seamstresses who serve Simons’ vision.
Do not miss this film. Fashion is a serious industry which moves billions of dollars a year. This documentary shows you the behind the scenes and how a driven, talented and focused designer such as Raf Simmons brings modernity and transcends into the future of the Maison Dior with his debut collection in 2012. Raf Simmons inspires his teams and gains their respect whilst learning the codes of the Maison.
A while back I shared the “making of” the set which was the backdrop to the couture show. Having just seen the documentary and how the idea of the million flowers was born from Simmon’s visit to Christian Dior’s own gardens, the below short film is even more relevant. Watch it! mesmerizing.
