Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Ode are the force behind Japanese womenswear label Hyke. The label sets itself apart through a simple and clean aesthetic, accentuating materials and tailoring, the concept being «Heritage and Evolution».
For SS16 we see the return of Hyke’s concept and character reworking adidas’ iconic design into contemporary womenswear silhouettes. Using a clean palette of white and navy as its foundation, the apparel collection blends athletic design and fashion perspectives across a range of essential pieces, elevated through asymmetrical cuts, extended silhouettes and left-field constructions.
Lightweight pieces including t-shirts, short-sleeved sweats and knit dress designs are accompanied by windbreakers, track tops and stylized bottom pieces as well as a range of accessories, culminating in a clean and collected range with authentic sportswear elements.
Continuing the collection’s theme, a range of footwear silhouettes is offered alongside the apparel in complementary colorways. Three-stripes icons such as the adilette, Haillet Hi and Micropacer receive a strong collaborative treatment, counterbalanced by unique reinventions of archive designs that bring multiple elements into singular, breathtaking new silhouettes.
Viewed as a whole, it’s a strong continuance of the original endeavor of adidas Originals by Hyke – classic sportswear transformed by progressive design.
