Let ‘All Star Weekend’ Begin
What will we find out in the great NBA party?
29 days full of information intensity. We have begun February in this way. The Super Bowl has just finished and we are ready for another one important sport event. We are talking about NBA All Star: A game that blends talent and entertainment; a luxury party that show us infinity jumps and amazing slam dunk contest; and event that attracts thousands of people, but it’s viewed by millions of people. Also it bring us great surprises like the last one abou Pau Gasol. Finally he will play his sixth All Star Game, due to Jimmy Butler injury.
NBA All-Star 2016 in Toronto marks the first time that the league’s midseason classic will be held outside the United States. The 65th NBA All-Star Game, televised by TNT and broadcast by ESPN Radio in the United States on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. ET from Air Canada Centre, will reach fans in 215 countries and territories in 49 languages. Also social media will play a leading part because NBA has one billion fans in Facebook, Twitter and another platforms.
We have an intense schedule. On friday we will enjoyed Rising Stars Challenge that represents the future of the sport. The 20 best first- and second-year players in the league will battle in a matchup between homegrown products and international stars. Previously, in the Celebrity Game watch some of the hottest celebrities from film, TV and music, along with some of your favorite NBA Legends taking their skills to Center Court for a fun and entertaining basketball game! State Farm All-Star Saturday Night includes three competitions featuring some of the NBA’s best players.
The State Farm All-Star Saturday night is adding a team component, with the Eastern and Western Conference competing for $500,000 for charity. The conferences will earn points based on the results of the night’s three events: the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest and the Verizon Slam Dunk contest. Finally, on Sunday, watch your basketball heroes face off in a battle of East vs. West in an all-out star spectacular that will take your breath away. We will be watching for Kobe Bryant who will retire after this season: “this season is all I have left to give”, Bryant said.
NBA All-Star 2016 will feature 216 current NBA players and legends participating in events, including 41 members of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. As part of the NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service, nearly 1,000 members of the NBA family and NBA All-Star guests will roll up their sleeves to sort and repack 110,000 pounds of food donations to benefit more than 30,000 Canadians in need. Also for every assist made during the NBA All-Star Game, State Farm and NBA Cares will donate $1,800 to Boys & Girls Clubs.
The future of basketball will be important also this weekend; Fifty-two of the top high school boys and girls from 27 countries will travel to Toronto for the second annual Basketball without Borders Global Camp: “The BWB Global Camp is a great opportunity for these boys and girls to learn directly from players and coaches, many of whom have been involved with the BWB program for years,” NBA Vice President, International Basketball Operations Brooks Meek said.
Another important new aspect this year is the sponsors. Kia (one of the most important sponsors of NBA) will put a logo patch on the upper left-hand corner of the All-Star Game jerseys this season and the next. It’s the first time one of the four major American professional sports leagues have placed advertisements on uniforms. Official T-shirt will cost between 70 $-110$, official coats 110$-200$ and the cups 20$-26$.
Regarding to All Star tickets, they are cheaper than Super Bowl tickets but not all the people can buy them. We talk about for $500 minimun price to $8,000 (could it be double in resale business). If you can pay it, you will enjoyed one of the most amazing sports event in America, but one thing is true: Toronto is cold. Meteorological forecast talk about 22 degrees below zero… Could it be a problem for basket players? How the event is being organised? Who attend? What about the businesses? The Luxonomist is already in Toronto in order to answer all these questions. We’ll find out the secrets of this great NBA party.
